What type of mattress is best for me?
What type of firmness you choose will depend on a few factors including your preferred sleeping position, your height and your weight.
Here we try to explain what level of firmness is best for what type of sleeper you are. But for expert advice feel free to contact one of our bed specialists.
Soft: Ideal for side sleepers or those restless people who change positions during the night. You would want your mattress to mould to your body’s natural position.
Medium soft: Ideal for those who change their sleeping position during the night, as it will still mould to your body position but provide a little more support.
Medium firm: Ideal for people who sleep on their back, as it will offer extra lower-back support.
Firm: Ideal for those who sleep on their front or who are over 15 stone or suffer from back pain. This firmness will keep your back in a relatively comfortable and stable position without sinking or struggling to change position.
Back problems?
It’s best to try a mattress before you buy; we have hundreds in store that you can try. A firm mattress is usually recommended by retailers but you should always look for a mattress that keeps your back aligned while sleeping and relieves any pressure points along your spine and joints. This is why trying them is best. Generally speaking the heavier you are, the firmer your mattress should be.
