Importance of a good subfloor for Vinyl
If your floor is currently a laminate, carpet, linoleum, tile, a rubber floor, or an uneven surface, unfortunately it is not an ideal base layer for vinyl and you might need it to be removed completely. Please contact us for advice if you are unsure. No job is too complicated for us!
Some helpful tips:
We can lay vinyl on concrete as long as it is smooth and dry. Making sure it has no moisture, will ensure you don’t end up with problems including mould. If the existing concrete sub floors are uneven, we would recommend a floor remedy compound to level the floors.
Our preferred choice is Latex Screed, this can be installed by our fitters. Latex screed is designed to provide a smooth, level surface prior to the application of a floor. It is ideal for both commercial and domestic buildings. This removes dirt and irregularities and the self-adhesive vinyl floor can be easily installed and will avoid any nasty lumps and bumps.
If you want to lay the vinyl floor made of self-adhesive material on a wooden floor, this is possible. However, this only applies if your wooden floor is completely free of joints, covered in ply without gaps or joints. If you have existing wooden floors with gaps or if it is uneven, we would recommend that a 6mm ply board is laid to level the subfloor first.
Any Floor Remedial work can be carried out by our expert fitters.
We offer a free measuring service, during this time we can assess what subfloor work, if any you need doing.
